VP Credit & Risk Operations
Are you a strategic credit leader who thrives at the intersection of data, technology, and business growth? Do you have an extensive background in technical credit underwriting from credit institutions specializing in corporate lending (SME), combined with the fast-paced agility of the fintech world?
We are looking for a VP Credit & Risk Operations with deep, hands-on operational and strategic credit expertise to take end-to-end responsibility for our credit decisioning, management processes, and regulatory reporting. In this key leadership role, you will be instrumental in balancing risk with commercial ambition, ensuring our fintech bank scales sustainably and profitably through professional rigor.
Juni who? 👋
At Juni, we’re busy building the future of banking. We want to help businesses do more with less and get access to the financial tools they need to operate, grow, and win globally.
Your role at a glance 🤸♀️
As our VP Credit & Risk Operations, you will own our credit strategy and lead the evolution of our credit organization. You are both a strategic driver and an operational authority—comfortable making hands-on credit decisions, conducting investigations, and handling regulatory filings (including SAR/STR reporting and communication with Finanspolisen).
You will be a vital member of the management team, reporting directly to the CEO, and acting as the bridge between operational credit work, bank compliance, and the Board of Directors.
While Credit Leadership is your primary focus, you will also hold overarching responsibility for our KYC and Financial Crime functions, ensuring customer onboarding, monitoring, and bank-level compliance processes are scalable, robust, and fit-for-purpose.
Your responsibilities 👏
Credit Leadership: Own and develop the credit decisioning and credit management processes end-to-end. Leverage your extensive, technical corporate credit underwriting knowledge to build scalable, data-driven frameworks while remaining hands-on in operational decision-making.
KYC & FinCrime Oversight: Lead and drive the KYC and Financial Crime agenda (including transaction monitoring), ensuring effective, compliant, and scalable processes for customer due diligence, anti-money laundering, and ongoing monitoring.
Organizational Growth: Lead, mentor, and scale the credit, FinCrime, and onboarding teams, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous learning.
Governance & ECL: Serve as the Chairman of the Credit Committee and head the ECL Committee (reserveringskommitté). Present credit-related matters, risk exposure, IFRS 9 provisions, and FinCrime status to the Board.
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: Ensure full bank-level regulatory compliance across credit and FinCrime operations. Take operational responsibility for regulatory reporting to Finansinspektionen and Finanspolisen, as well as handling SAR/STR reporting.
Process Innovation: Drive the continuous improvement and automation of credit processes and risk models (PD-scoring, financial modeling, IFRS 9) backed by hands-on underwriting expertise.
Commercial Balance: Partner closely with sales and product teams to find the "sweet spot" between risk appetite and business opportunity.
Qualifications 👑
Proven Credit Leadership: Track record in a senior credit leadership role (CCO, Head of Credit, or VP) within a bank or credit institution, paired with demonstrated people management experience.
Corporate Credit Expertise (Mandatory): Extensive hands-on credit underwriting experience specifically within corporate lending/SME environments and larger ticket sizes (typically 5M+ SEK). Note: Experience strictly limited to consumer lending or small-ticket credit does not match the scope of this role.
Hands-on & Operational Mindset: You are comfortable diving into complex investigations, executing operational credit tasks, and managing SAR/STR reporting directly.
Bank Compliance & IFRS 9: Deep understanding of modern banking compliance, reporting requirements (FI/Finanspolisen), and practical experience working with IFRS 9 frameworks and provisioning.
FinCrime & KYC Knowledge: Strong operational framework knowledge of KYC, AML, and transaction monitoring in a digital-first banking environment.
Startup/Scale-up Agility: Experience working in a high-growth tech or fintech environment. You know how to build and adapt processes from the ground up.
Communication: Fluent in Swedish and English, with the ability to articulate complex credit, risk, and compliance topics clearly to both internal teams and external regulators.
Nice to Have 🌟
European Credit Market Experience: Experience with cross-border lending dynamics and European credit markets outside of Sweden (e.g., Germany).
